With increased donations from our patrons, Bra Couture KC sought out additional centers that serve patients fighting cancer and found Cancer Action. We provide a $25,000 grant annually to Cancer Action specifically for uninsured/underinsured cancer patients at both of their facilities which gives Bra Couture KC a presence in both Overland Park, Kansas and Independence, Missouri.

Services for men and women include:

• Nutritional Supplement Program
  • Cancer Action will provide one case (27 servings) of oral nutritional supplements to clients who are eligible, up to six cases. A physician’s authorization is required. Cancer Action will provide 2-3 cases (48 cans) of nutritional supplements to clients who require tube feeding. Nutritional supplements will be provided while a client is actively receiving chemotherapy and/or radiation treatments.
• Medical Equipment and Supplies
  
  • Medical equipment includes bath benches, commodes, walkers, wheelchairs, crutches and canes. Other equipment may be available based on donations.
  • Prescription assistance for uninsured/underinsured
• Mastectomy Supplies
  
  • Mastectomy Supplies are available for women at our offices including prostheses
    and bras.
• Transportation
  • Transportation is provided to cancer patients who need a ride one-way or roundtrip to cancer-related appointments. Cancer Action will make every effort to assist patients with their transportation needs. Transportation is dependent on availability of volunteers or other resources. Cancer Action will make referrals to other transportation resources to assist patients in getting to their treatment.
• Wigs, Turbans, Scarves and Hats
  
  • For women experiencing hair loss, all three offices feature a TLC room that provides a comfortable, private setting for women to try on various styles of wigs, turbans and scarves.
• Comfort Items
  
  • Hundreds of volunteers donate their time by making comfort items to provide compassionate support to our clients. Comfort items include neck pillows, pressure point pillows, trach bibs, afghans, hospital bed sheets, gowns and slippers.
